There are several different types of physics and technical seminars available to CENPA personnel. The main seminar series of interest are:
These are described in more detail on the Monday meeting page, but essentially each Monday meeting involves a brief, informal talk by a laboratory member about something they find interesting. These talks are not generally open to the public as they may include work in progress. You can see the upcoming schedule of Monday meeting speakers, as well as an archive of slides from past talks.
These are regular hour long seminars given by both internal and outside speakers on topics of interest to CENPA.
Times and location
The talks are public and are publicized on the CENPA webpage; they also appear in the main Physics Department seminar listings. Typically reminder signs are posted on the CENPA doors a few days in advance.
Martin Fertl (mfertl@uw.edu), is in charge of the CENPA seminar series. Please contact him if you are interested in arranging a seminar.
The Institute of Nuclear Theory, based in the Physics Building, often hosts workshops on topics of interest to CENPA researchers. These workshops attract theorists and experimentalists from around the world and it is usually possible to sit in on a number of talks, although a registration fee may be required. The INT page gives the schedule of upcoming programs.
Seminars and colloquia in the Physics Department – including graduate students' general and final exams – are listed on the Physics Department webpage. In the right-hand sidebar of that page, there are links allowing you to subscribe to email seminar announcements on a daily or weekly basis. This is highly recommended.
