There are three main categories of cafeteria and restaurant options near CENPA.
Campus dining is usually quick and relatively cheap compared to other options, but can be quite crowded and unavailable during breaks in the academic year. The university maintains a list of campus dining locations with a map. The closest cafeteria to CENPA is The 8, located in the basement of the McMahon Hall dormitory. To get to the 8, walk out through the N12 parking lot and turn right to go behind the CENPA instrument shop. Between two tall dormitories to the left, you will see a stairway going up the rest of the hill. At the top of the stairway, turn left and walk a short distance along Stevens Way. The entrance to McMahon is on the left, through the entrance to McMahon South. Please note that The 8 is cashless, so you must pay by credit card, debit card or Husky card. During the summer there is a significant discount available for people paying by Husky card.
The Hub (Husky Union Building) is another close-by campus dining location, requiring a longer walk south along Stevens Way. Once again, the Hub dining facilities are located in the basement of the building.
If you are in the Physics Building, there is a small cafe called the H-bar on the ground floor of the Tower, near the front office. This cafe has no cooking facilities but does offer limited pre-prepared food options (e.g. cold sandwiches).
Numerous dining options are available in the University Village shopping center, across 25th Ave NE from CENPA. The shopping center directory gives a complete listing. The quickest access to the University Village from CENPA is via the east staircase down the hill to the Burke-Gilman Trail, located opposite the accelerator control room. Follow the staircase down the hill, cross the Burke-Gilman Trail, and follow the path down a gentle slope to 25th Ave. After crossing the street, turn left and then enter the shopping center via the sidewalk turnoff under the 45th-St viaduct. The shopping center includes a QFC grocery which can be handy for quick meal fixings.
There are numerous restaurants, representing a wide variety of cuisines, clustered along University Way NE (nicknamed "The Ave"). Walk west across campus, cross 15th Ave NE, and the next street you reach will be University Way. UrbanSpoon has a good list. CENPA favorites include Shalimar (Indian), Guanaco's (pupusas), MOD Pizza, and Banana Leaf (Thai).
