UW offers a number of safety training courses through Environmental Health & Safety. Most courses are offered online, although some are classroom-only. You can view the complete course listing on the EH&S site. (Online courses can be accessed from that page.) After logging in with your UW NetID (the "xxx" in "xxx@uw.edu" or "xxx@u.washington.edu"), you can also view your own UW training records. Note that it sometimes takes a couple weeks for training records to be updated.
Gary Holman, the Associate Director, documents training for the lab. When you complete a UW training course, please enter Gary Holman as your supervisor, giving her email address (holman@uw.edu) so that he will receive a record of your training.
CENPA is an old building that contains asbestos, and a wide variety of chemicals are stored and used on the premises. For these reasons, all laboratory personnel should take Asbestos Awareness training and GHS training. Other training requirements are determined based on what tasks you actually perform in the course of your work, according to the attached safety training matrix. Consult with your supervisor and with the safety officer, Doug Will, to finalize your training requirements.
